Area Of Focus: Facilities and Operations Management, Master Planning, Sustainability

Larry is the Managing Principal and a founder of The Stone House Group (SHG), which is widely recognized as an industry leader in providing facilities, operations and finance guidance for institutions worldwide. The Stone House Group facilitates responsible planning and management of energy, natural and financial resources through energy management, facilities and project management, building commissioning and sustainability consulting services.

Since the company’s founding, Larry has enjoyed fostering ongoing relationships with clients. At Swarthmore College, Larry has guided College stakeholders in crafting an Energy Strategy for Sustainability and Resiliency that will allow the College to reduce their carbon footprint while also becoming more resilient to power grid outages in the future. Larry’s involvement at Holton-Arms School started with the development of an interim and turn around management team. Currently, SHG continues to provide technical support for project management, retro-commissioning and operations guidance at the School. Larry has also been instrumental in developing a SHG presence in the Washington, DC area. Through his ties to the area dating back to childhood and the creation of a SHG DC regional office, the company has added over fifteen new clients in under two years, bringing the total number of DC area clients to over thirty. Clients served in the DC-Maryland area include National Presbyterian Church and School, Holton-Arms School, Landon School, The Lab School, Indian Creek School, Georgetown University and American University.

He is passionate about instilling sustainability within his communities and is currently engaged on several volunteer committees. At SHG’s headquarters in Bethlehem, PA, Larry serves as a steering committee member of South Bethlehem’s Community Benefit District initiative. He has served on the Vestry of the Cathedral Church of the Nativity and as Chairman of the Board of the Green Schools Alliance. Currently, Larry sits on the Saucon Valley Conservancy Advisory Committee and serves as a Board Trustee and Treasurer for Moravian Academy.

Larry has also overseen the renovation of a historic building in South Bethlehem that is home to SHG’s headquarters and is pursuing LEED Gold Certification in several spaces. With the installation of energy efficient equipment and retro-fits, the building’s carbon footprint has fallen 75% even as building occupancy has increased by 60%.

Larry graduated from Middlebury College with a Bachelor of Arts. He also did graduate work at Carnegie Mellon University and Harvard University and most recently received a certificate from Harvard University’s Executive Education for Sustainability Conference in November 2016.

Larry is a frequent presenter at national conferences on facilities and building stewardship. He has presented at NBOA, EACUBO, NAIS, NFMT, NAES, AASHE and TABS.
